Peter Frazer OAM

In February 2012, Peter’s daughter Sarah was tragically killed by a distracted truck driver. Despite his profound grief, the following month he founded the NGO Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH). Since then, Peter has dedicated his life to road safety advocacy, policy reform and community education, nationally and globally. As SARAH President, he founded and continues to lead National Road Safety Week, as well as establishing Australia’s road safety symbol, the Yellow Ribbon.
With over 40 years’ experience in human rights, law enforcement, intelligence, research and policy, Peter remains an effective activist, influencing government policies, legislative reforms and corporate initiatives.
A highly sought-after speaker nationally, his global footprint includes having keynoted 2015 International Road Federation/Roads Australia Conference, 2021 World Health Organisation UN Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims and the 14th World Conference on Injury Prevention & Safety Promotion (2022). Peter is also an International Road Victim Partnership Board Member, Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety member, and former Fédération Européenne des Victimes de la Route Advisor.
Peter has received numerous honours, including becoming a Churchill Fellow (2020), Australasian College of Road Safety Fellow (2021), and receiving an Order of Australia Medal (2022) for his “service in the advancement of road safety, both nationally and internationally.”
