We all want to solve issues related to alcohol, drugs and road safety worldwide.
The 24th ICADTS tri-annual conference reflects seven decades of dedication to promoting conferences that connect the world with experts and delegates, facilitating knowledge sharing and excellent opportunities for face-to-face networking to explore ideas and solutions to increasingly important, topical, emerging and urgent issues.
2025 -Time for Change: Traffic Safety for a Sustainable World will be the conference title because 2025 brings together several challenges. As we all know, 2025 is an essential milestone in the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 (UN General Assembly Resolution 74/299).
We will be precisely in the middle of the global challenge for all of us: to achieve the decade's goals (50% reduction in road traffic deaths and severe injuries by 2030). This challenge makes us responsible for calling the governments, national and international entities, road safety experts, civil society, academia and other stakeholders/organisations to take a new path that emphasises safety as a core value within the Safe System and sustainable mobility. Traffic Safety and sustainable mobility are our concerns.
This challenge translated in the Global Plan makes us responsible for calling the governments, national and international entities, road safety experts, civil society, academia and other stakeholders/ organizations to take a new path that emphasises safety as a core value within the Safe System and sustainable mobility.
An important milestone also comes after the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, to be held from 18 to 20 February 2025 in Marrakech (Maroco).
After 4 months of the Ministerial Conference, T2025 will contribute to the realisation of the objectives of the draft Resolution A/78/L.78, Improving global road safety from UN General Assembly, 3 June 2024, point 7, p.4
“Invites Member States that have not already done so to consider adopting comprehensive legislation on key risk factors, including the non-use of seat belts, child restraints and helmets, the drinking of alcohol and driving, and speeding, and to consider implementing appropriate, effective and evidence- and/or science-based legislation on other risk factors related to distracted or impaired driving”.
