Welcome to ICADTS - The International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety.
ICADTS is an independent nonprofit body whose only goal is to reduce mortality and morbidity brought about by the misuse of alcohol and drugs by operators of vehicles in all modes of transport.
To accomplish this goal, the Council sponsors international and regional conferences to collect, disseminate and share essential information among professionals in the fields of law, medicine, public health, economics, law enforcement, public information and education, human factors and public policy.
ICADTS also administers several working groups designed to facilitate discussion on a range of topics during the intervals between conferences and produces a quarterly newsletter that is available for free.

History
Previous ICADTS conferences
ICADTS is pleased to host an international conference every three years, which focuses on the research and policy work being undertaken globally on the issues of alcohol, drugs, and traffic safety.
Hosted on a rotating basis amongst a range of relevant organisations, these events are the culmination of much of the work being done by ICADTS members around the world and bring together delegates drawn from the areas of public health and safety, traffic and transport psychology, public health, law, medicine, economics, law enforcement, public policy, education, pharmacology, toxicology, forensic science, human factors, and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation. Organisations interested in hosting an upcoming conference are encouraged to contact the Council for more information.

SHIELD
Security and Protection: A shield is a traditional symbol of protection. It communicates the idea that the brand is committed in safeguarding all who is part of the highway, which in this case becomes a shield of preventive safety.
CIRCLES
The overlapping of two circles is the representation of the wheels of the various vehicles that circulate on the highway.
The circle can symbolize natural cycles, like the seasons, the cycle of life and the rebirth.
It suggests the idea of continuous and eternal renewal.
It can be interpreted as a symbol of protection, as it creates a continuous and closed barrier. Many cultures use the circle as a protective amulet
TRIANGLES
With the composition of the respective arrangement of the graphic elements, it’s intended to represent the stained-glass windows of the Mosteiro de Alcobaça.
